Woburn, MASS. Meteor? 28NOV2011
Woburn, MASS. Meteor? ~5:00 pm 28NOV2011
My husband and I were pulling into Whole Foods Parking lot in Woburn, MA at approx 5 p.m this evening 11/28/11 and saw a falling star or whatever it was...not sure. . The direction it was going easterly maybe??.. just know that it was very bright, a good size, and was the fastest travelling thing I ever saw! Amazing and beautiful! It was large at it's front end and a long tail. I only witnessed a meteor shower once... they just kept coming, but they were narrower than the one I saw tonight which was by itself...and pretty large. Would love to know what it was exactly and if others in the area had the same privilege! -Gina Thank you Gina!
Any other sighting reports? Please report: Date and Time of event? Location name (town, city) where you were when saw the meteor? Start and Stop location in sky? Direction of movement? Duration of Event (seconds)? Brightness ( in comparison with Venus, Moon, Sun) color, sounds? Photos? Videos? please email LunarMeteoriteHunter@gmail.com Your reports make it possible for all to check what they saw as well. Thank you! 2011 The Year of Meteors!

Austin, Texas Meteor 28NOV2011
Austin, Texas Meteor ~9:25 pm CST 28NOV2011
Approx 9.25pm tonight I viewed something I have never seen headed west to east above Cedar Park and Austin Texas.
I googled to see if anyone has seen this and found your site and a post from someone describing what they saw today and the description is the same except the post they sent is logged from this morning. This thing was visible for a second or so it seemed to be close to the roofs of the homes it was so big I thought it might be a missile or some strange firework... An orange red and green trail that I wish I could rewind to see more of! Regards, Julian Thank you Julian!

It seemed more wide than tall and very fast only 2 seconds at most. I just caught my eye, it made no sound. Not sure what it was but so curious. Thanks for the website, its been interesting to look through and read about what others have seen...Jennifer

Santa Fe Springs, CA Meteor ~1:00 am PST 27NOV2011
November 27, 11 at approximately 1:00 AM in Santa Fe Springs, CA, southeast of Los Angeles. It was amazingly orange and red, it was very bright compared to other celestial objects. Myself and my two friends all happened to be looking up at the sky because it was unusually clear that night, and we all gasped at once as we saw a shooting star for the first time. -Kevin Thank you Kevin!

Pacific Pines, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia Orange Fire Ball ~7:30 pm 27NOV2011
! saw large orange fire ball in the sky. 27 November 2011 at approximately 7:30 pm. The object was seen from my house at Pacific Pines on the Gold Coast in Queensland. It was heading south, maybe slightly south east i saw the object for approximately 4 seconds. The object made no sound but was very large it seemed to be yellow and had fire orange circling the yellow with a long curved fire orange tail as it seems to have raised and then was lowering (i do not have much knowledge of astronomy so i can only describe what i saw my apologies). I am very interested in knowing what is was, could it possible the rocket that was launched to Mars? Thanks, SallyThank you Sally! It was most likely a meteor not rocket debris.

! saw large orange fire ball in the sky.

Camarillo, CA Saw Meteor! between 8:00- 8:30 p.m. 26NOV2011
I had just parked my car and collected mail from the mailbox, then walked up the driveway to enter my home and looked to my left which is west facing toward the Pacific Ocean. I’m not certain on the exact time because I was off my regular schedule, but think it was easily between 8:00-8:30 p.m. this evening. It was quite a large white and yellowish mainly round ball that was moving at a moderate rate of speed. I was taken by surprise (by the size) and to the best of my recollection, it appeared to be moving downward and disappeared. I don’t believe I saw a tail of any type, but that it was fairly large, larger than a shooting star, and light and bright. Patti B
Thank you Patti!
Laurel Canyon, CA
We (girlfriend and a couple other people) spotted a meteor (same as reported from Patti in Camarillo, CA) on Saturday Nov 26th, approximately 2000 - 2030 hrs.
Date & Time: Nov 26, 2011 / 2000-2030 hrs Location: Laurel Canyon, CA
Start & Stop: Streaking green/blue with a tail/trailing debris(?) from west to east overhead; not extremely fast - and not slow. As it reached approximately 60 degrees above (and to the east), it seemingly dropped/fell and broke up as it faded out. Duration: The event seemed to last (from the time it caught our eye) approximately three seconds. Brightness: Very bright - much brighter than the planets, and bigger. We didn't catch any video or photos.
Also, I was fortunate enough to witness the big, green fireball in September too: I was motoring on my sailboat along the backside (south side) of Santa Cruz Island - the Channel Islands off the coast of Ventura, CA, when I saw it - that was a trip! Cheers, Tom V. Thank you Tom!

At about 6:55 PM I saw a shooting star in the southern sky while taking my daughter out to see Venus. Venus is very bright but I couldn't find the moon right off. So we went out in front of our house and as we turned to look South we saw a very bright meteor fall - It was the same relative size as venus if not larger and fell from about south to southeast. I don't think it was a firework - it suddenly appeared, was very solid at first and then and disspated or broke up like meteors I would watch out in the desert.
I Googled to see if there was supposed to be any meteor activity in that part of the sky but only got your website. -Steven H. Thank you Steven!
Laguna Beach, CA Meteor ~7:00 pm 26NOV2011
I believe we saw the same one as the gentleman in Riverside CA. We were in Laguna Beach, CA, on an upper floor of a hotel balcony, watching the stars and airplanes, using the “Starwalk” application on an IPad. It was close to 7 pm, or just after, and a huge star fell out of the sky; it was so large and bright I at first thought it was a random firework. All four of us saw it, while facing west over the ocean. It was so bright, and then fell to bits. Magical! -Kristin E. Thank you Kristin!
Ontario, California meteor ~7:00 pm 26NOV2011
Hi I was driving my daughter to a friends house last night close to 7 pm PST when we turned south on a street near our house I saw a large meteor falling S-SE. the tail broke off once or twice. it seemed slow and its path was slightly curving and falling down toward the earth not up. I say this because at first I thought it possibly was fireworks because it was soo close, like you could reach out and touch it and it was sparkly and I saw greenish yellow colors in the tail. I have never seen color before in a shooting star. It was soo beautiful! we both saw it, I was actually speechless for a minute! This was yesterday, November 26, 2011 at approximately 7 PM in Ontario California. keep looking up! -candi Thank you Candi!

Adelaide, Australia Meteor 26NOV2011
River Murray, near Adelaide, Australia Meteor 23:45 local 26NOV2011
Sitting out camping by the River Murray, 2 hours out of Adelaide ( South Australia ) one of us noticed a very slow shooting star moving in the Northern Western part of the sky (heading towards Orion’s belt).
After notifying the rest of us we all looked around (expecting it to have disappeared) to see this asteroid / meteor slowly moving across the entire width of the sky. It was like no shooting star I’ve ever seen before; moving across the sky quite slowly in comparison and with an orange tail stretching behind it. It seemed to break up into 3 or 4 different parts before it then disappeared.
The whole thing lasted around 4 or 5 seconds (quite long all considering). It was spectacular and we are desperate to know if anyone else saw this??? Thanks. Andreas Thank you Andreas!

Berwind, West Virginia Meteor 25NOV2011
Berwind, West Virginia Meteor between 19:00-19:30 25NOV2011
Friday, 11/25/11 between 19:00 and 19:30 my family and I was treated to the sighting of a large bright blue meteor moving across the sky of a small town called Berwind. The town is located on the very southern tip of West Virginia. We watched the meteor for 10 - 15 seconds before it passed behind the mountains. I'm guessing it was traveling S.E. and had to be topping the super sonic speed scale. All I can say is WOW!!! what a treat! I wanted so much to witness it strike the ground but unfortunately for us it had too much altitude. Thank You - Tim J. Thank you Tim!

Concord, North Carolina, USA Meteor 25NOV2011
Concord, North Carolina, USA Meteor Approx. 1830 EDT 25NOV2011
Pulled into my driveway and saw about 8 deer in the field. Pulled up with my 5 y/o in backseat and shined my headlights on them to watch. About 5 minutes into watching them graze we saw an object heading earthbound on an angle traveling from NE to SW and losing altitude. The object had a sparkling vibrant blue glow that appeared to continue until it was below tree level from my vantage point, so I’m not sure when it lost illumination. Glad I took a moment to let my 5 y/o watch the deer graze as this was one of the most beautiful shooting stars/meteorites that I’ve seen in my 42 years, and I was able to share it with my daughter. Thanks, Jerry & Aryanne. Thank You!

Wallula, WA Meteor 25NOV2011
Wallula, WA Meteor ~5:00 pm PST 25NOV2011
Hi, I was driving south just past Wallula, WA around twilight (there was still a bit of lingering sunset behind Wallula Gap,) it was maybe 5ish. Just to the west of the gap (on the Columbia River) I saw a bright but small green flash which then broke into two short "tails." As far as size I guess I would compare the original flash with a pencil erasure, and the two tails would then be about the length of a half a crayon and the width of baby yarn. Hope that's useful! ~ Heather Thank you Heather!

Robinson, PA Meteor ~7:00 pm 25NOV2011
I saw a green shooting star or I guess meteor. It was tonight a little before 7pm EST. I was driving west and saw it through my windshield. It was bright green and moved from right to left which must have meant it was going south. It lasted several seconds. There wasn't much of a trail. I thought it was just a shooting star until I googled it and came across your website. It was near robinson, PA outside of Pittsburgh, PA. It was really awesome! -Robyn Thank you Robyn!

Indiana Meteor 25NOV2011
south of Indianapolis, Indiana on State Road 37 Meteor? ~10:30 pm 25NOV2011
The only reason I found this website is because I was online looking to see if anyone else had posted anything about seeing a meteorite tonight. I was driving home to Bloomington, Indiana and saw what looking like a pale green meteorite in the sky. What is strange to me is that there was cloud cover, and so I was seeing a meteorite that was below the clouds? It had a ball shape on one end and a tail coming off of it. It lasted for just a few seconds. I am almost certain it was NOT fireworks. The pale green color was unusual, too. Sincerely, Diane L. Thank you Diane!

I saw a large shooting star on Nov. 25, 2011, somewhere around 12:52 a.m.. I was riding in a car on a country road somewhere around Coloma, Michigan. It was brighter than Jupiter, orange, and had a tail that was the same color. It lasted about a second at the most. I can't say for sure exactly where in the sky I saw it; my guess is it was either somewhere below the constellation Orion or in an area below-left of it, and moved away to its left. -Alex K. Thank you Alex!

Nashville, TN Meteor 25NOV2011
Nashville, TN Meteor ~11:55pm 25NOV2011
I live in Nashville, TN - not sure exactly the time, but approx. midnight November 25, 2011 an incredibly bright blue/green meteor appeared on the northern horizon moving from east southeast to west northwest - a long tail glowing blueish appeared to hit the ionoshpere and illuminate a giant aurora appearing as if passing through an overcast sky - but the sky was clear - approx. 1.5 seconds total - the entry created giant greenish glow covering an area equal to a dinner plate held at arms length - i've never seen anything this bright or as huge! - it literally made the entire sky glow blue/green for an instant! - if not looking directly at object it would have appeared as if a green roman candle had gone off nearby...very shocking indeed -jeff hall Thank you Jeff!

North Carolina Meteor 25NOV2011
Greensboro, North Carolina Meteor 1:20 am 25NOV2011
I was talking on the phone around 1:20 AM Nov 25 (Friday morning) and looked up to catch a bright, red, fiery thing falling. I was looking NorthEast at an angle of about 45 degrees, and the thing seemed to be falling slightly, but mostly moving from left to right. I don't know much about astronomy, so I don't know if it was a shooting star, but it didn't really look like one, since it was so red and the "star" part was bigger than I would expect. I hope this helps, and I would really like to know what exactly I saw that night. Thanks, Vivek Chavda Thank you Vivek!
Greenville, North Carolina
We were heading home from a Thanksgiving Party when we saw what I thought a shooting star. It was a big white ball of light with a tail. It was huge compare to what I've ever seen before. It flashed and dissipated long enough for me to make a wish, about 3-5 seconds. We lived in Greenville North Carolina and we're heading north when we saw it. The exact time and date was Novermber 24, 2011 at 1:30 am Eastern time. We saw it on 11/25 at 1:34 AM. The size was about 10 times the size of the Northern star on a clear night as viewed from the south eastern US. When we saw it I immediately identified it as a meteor or asteroid due to size and length of time it crossed the sky. The arc suggested it passed between the earth and moon's orbit. I have seen dozens of shooting stars and this is by far the largest and most spectacular event I have witnessed. If it had hit the earth it would have made a global event - guessing of course. Virna, my son Cameron and I were in awe and discussed it for some time. Thank you. Randy and Virna Thank you all!

Port Saint Lucie, Florida Meteor 24NOV2011
Port Saint Lucie, Florida Meteor 11:45pm EST 24NOV2011
Hi there, this is my very first time doing this and so I don’t know what to say other then, I saw a last night November 24th 2011 a huge meteor and I have never seen anything like it! It was huge going across the sky and it was big not so bright but there were a lot of clouds. It looked as though it was in the atmosphere not in space and it coming down, looked as though it was going to crash into the ground if that makes any sense.. It has a huge tail... I have only ever seen shooting starts and small ones that are way high up and have a tail but not a huge one like this one had.. I have to admit I am a little freaked out, from what I have read people seem to have seen really big ones that look like what I have described in these past few weeks.. I guess I watch to many movies about meteor's and comets putting the world to an end and that the president knows and wont tell is because of panic.. Thank you for letting me share. freaking out in Florida, -Tonya
