River Murray, near Adelaide, Australia Meteor 23:45 local 26NOV2011
Sitting out camping by the River Murray, 2 hours out of Adelaide ( South Australia ) one of us noticed a very slow shooting star moving in the Northern Western part of the sky (heading towards Orion’s belt).
After notifying the rest of us we all looked around (expecting it to have disappeared) to see this asteroid / meteor slowly moving across the entire width of the sky. It was like no shooting star I’ve ever seen before; moving across the sky quite slowly in comparison and with an orange tail stretching behind it. It seemed to break up into 3 or 4 different parts before it then disappeared.
The whole thing lasted around 4 or 5 seconds (quite long all considering). It was spectacular and we are desperate to know if anyone else saw this??? Thanks. Andreas Thank you Andreas!
