X-37B ORBITAL TEST VEHICLE-3 LANDS AT VANDENBERG AFB
VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -

The X-37B Orbital Test Vehicle mission 3 (OTV-3), the Air Force's unmanned, reusable space plane, landed at Vandenberg Air Force Base at 9:24 a.m. Oct. 17 . "The 30th Space Wing and our mission partners, Air Force Rapid Capabilities Office, Boeing, and our base support contractors, have put countless hours of hard work into preparing for this landing and today we were able to see the culmination of that dedication," said Col Keith Balts, 30th Space Wing commander. "I'm extremely proud of our team for coming together to execute this third safe and successful landing. Everyone from our on console space operators to our airfield managers and civil engineers take pride in this unique mission and exemplify excellence during its execution." The OTV-3 conducted on-orbit experiments for 674 days during its mission, extending the total number of days spent on-orbit for the OTV program to 1367 days. "The landing of OTV-3 marks a hallmark event for the program" said the X-37B program manager. "The mission is our longest to date and we're pleased with the incremental progress we've seen in our testing of the reusable space plane. The dedication and hard work by the entire team has made us extremely proud." The X-37B is the newest and most advanced re-entry spacecraft. Managed by the Air Force Rapid Capabilities Office, the X-37B program performs risk 

reduction, experimentation and concept of operations development for reusable space vehicle technologies. The Air Force is preparing to launch the fourth X-37B mission from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in 2015.

SECRET Boeing X-37B / NASA

Since the mystery Loud Boom in the Shreveport, Louisiana area on Monday, October 13 at approximately 4:27 pm CDT, the event was felt and heard by thousands of residents in and around the city.and even over the state line into Texas some 35 miles away.

   At the time of the event I started getting an unusual pattern of traffic indicating an event and then queries starting coming in.  I immediately set off to post about the event in hopes of capturing reports from witnesses and to break the news story ahead of the media..  Minutes later I had the event confirmed via my network.

  Since Shreveport has had past loud booms, one on October 15, 2012 being the most recent, it was first guessed that it might have been a munitions bunker again, but it wasn't.  The Calumet plant was the next suspect because they had a prior loud boom; Calumet - negative!  Pipelines, other possible factories, and the military bases no cause was found.

 The next likely culprit, and my favorite at the time was a bolide, a large meteor, entering and fragmenting and this hypothesis lasted about two days for me.

 After contacting Marc Fries, a meteor radar expert, asked him to search for possible radar debris evidence;  Marc reported, "Nothing!". Meanwhile the National Weather Service, found a debris plume to the southeast of Shreveport.  NWS called the artifact a debris cloud. Marc found the same artifact on the same radar 15 minutes PRIOR to the event, discounting radar debris field evidence.

  This started me thinking about other possibilities. Was it a re-entry craft or vehicle, and what kind?

   The Google Search bar quickly found the SECRET X-37B, "Space Drone", was scheduled to be back at any time soon and of course secret, but open sources gave the location as Vandenberg AFB in California, but I also found that there was talk of landing one "in the future" at KFC as a trial run.

  Ok, I had my possible cause, looking more deeply into the bowels of Google and an IDEA hit me; check the Columbia return path!  Well I didn't just then, but I found that the Columbia had first entered over land at San Francisco, California and was to land at Kennedy Flight Center.  On Google Earth, I drew a line between the two locations, the line went right over Shreveport!  I found the Columbia's path on an official map, the map showed the flight path right over the Shreveport, LA area.

  This set me off on a search chase to find out more about the X-37B ......which I will write about later.  ........More about the story to come................ to be continued after I have some sleep

  Likely a meteor caused the flash that lit up the sky in Recife during the night of Wednesday (15), around 22h. Cameras and Urban Transit Company Transportation (CTTU) recorded the phenomenon. The celestial body probably went into combustion when it came into contact with the air pressure in the atmosphere and formed a fireball, fireball named. According to the Astronomical Society of Recife (SAR), the explosion is part of the "Meteor Orionídea", which starts on the 14th and ends on the 29th of this month.

Eyewitness Report-
September 13th, 2014 - 8"20 pm Pacific
I was just getting up from my chair facing a big window, to look outside and I face the Burrard Inlet and Simon Fraser University from the north side....and I looked southwest to west. I saw a very bright white tennis ball size glow, as white as the moon, (maybe 1/60th of the moon in size....I tried to imagine 15 circles in one quarter of the moon.....after a while for an example...but it seemed even bigger). It came from the south east, but I noticed it as it was centre, straight in front of me to the southwest, It had a wide tail and it went from east to west.....between the Burnaby Mtn. and Capital Hill in a canyon to it's northwest.....in which Burnaby and Vancouver are beyond it directly. I watched to see if there was going to be an explosion as it seemed very low to the mountain....and very close. It took about almost 5 seconds (full seconds....ie: 1+ 2+, etc.), not too fast, but apparently it couldn't have been a comet, because they stay for days.... although that is what it looked like. I heard no sound. I had no camera. If anyone living in houses on the water in Port Moody's north side was outside, they might have seen it. If it was that high up, I imagine others may have noted it as well.- Janet B.

Looking north on the west coast of oregon object resembling a star descending quickly east to west. Bright white then red/white color to it as speed increased. Size increased based on light. It left a long tail. Died quick behind the tree line of my vison. Less than 2 minutes after, 4 helicopters lingering. First came from direct north to south, large white light on it. Saw around 8 or 9 total. Law enforcement helicopters as well. They flew at 500 ft, while assumed news/other helicopters flew around 1000 feet. Skys were busy for the next hour. Anyone else see anything? - Nick Walker

This week provides another reminder of the reality of that threat, not that Earth’s history doesn’t already provide plenty of warnings.

The record of history, as written in the many impact craters on Earth and the moon, demonstrate that it is just a matter of time before astronomers discover a near Earth object (NEO) headed toward a collision with Earth.

The asteroid 2014 rc will pass below the Earth and the geosynchronous ring of communications and weather satellites orbiting 35,890 km (22,300 miles) above our planet's surface.

Asteroid 2014 RC was initially discovered on the night of 31 August by the Catalina Sky Survey near Tucson AZ, and independently detected the next night by the Pan-STARRS 1 telescope, located on the summit of Haleakala on Maui, Hawaii. Both reported their observations to the Minor Planet Center in Cambridge, MA. Additional follow-up observations by the Catalina Sky Survey and the University of Hawaii 88-inch on Mauna Kea confirmed the orbit of 2014 RC. From its brightness, astronomers estimate that the asteroid is about 20 meters (60 feet) in size.

While 2014 RC will not impact the Earth, its orbit will bring it back to the Earth's neighborhood in the future. Its future motion will be closely monitored but no future threatening Earth encounters have been identified. http://neo.jpl.nasa.gov/news/news184....

I dont think so but there was a trail after it which lasted longer than the object which was ap[parent in the sky for about 2 seconds slowly fading. It went diagonally up which is how I know it wasn't lightning.

22JUL2014 David Hennessey Calgary Alberta Canada 01:33 Mountain AM Perhaps 10 sec. 15 maybe East to West Saw streak of light very long. Very long. With round front and long tail. Front seemed to burst ?! Then tail section glowed very bright in sudden flash. Like high beams of car. Then started to fade out but visible for some time. I was on back deck when saw. I couldn't believe my eyes so was watching very close. The light got so bright it actually scared me for a moment. Started like moon. Burst went like sun or more. Insane bright. No. Looked like front may have burst ? I have not seen anything like this. I have witnessed shooting stars. This was far more bright , intense and scary then anything. It literally scared me the burst of light. I am a 40 year old man. For two hours now I have checked online and local news to see what this was and nothing. Insanely crazy. Wow. Once in a lifetime !!!!!!

I was heading east Bright green with a train that seemed reddish and fizzed out to orange/rust colour before fading out. Thought it heard a sound like hissing almost. Very bright! More like the moon Didn't seem so No photos. I was driving. Was in the middle of nowhere so it was very dark and it was one of the most incredible things I've ever seen. Wished it lasted longer. 

22JUL2014 Nathan Lefsrud Calgary, Alberta, Canada ~0130 MST Around 10 seconds. WSW from left to right It was a huge meteor, and it exploded in the atmosphere brightly enough to light up the night sky. For a few seconds, it had a glowing blue tail, and the meteor itself exploded into a shower of red and yellow. Much brighter than the planets, I'd say on par with the brightness of the Moon. At the moment of explosion, it looked as though it was a very large and nearby lightning strike. I can't say about before the explosion, but it shattered into many pieces. None that I can think of. It was quite extraordinary, though.

22JUL2014 Pamela Brandvold Lewistown Montana USA 1:30 AM aprox was power walking so time was not on my mind and no phone with me to time it perfectly two or three seconds NE-SW right to left facing north Orange head with a core of colors red to black surrounded by a comet tail, cocoon white envelope bulging from head to the point following. 1/2 of night sky facing my view of Dipper seen from town can never remember if that is major or minor til I pay attention lit up the sky like full moon and a micro second of the sun in initial burn up It look like three pieces together fell straight but again trajectory implied different it had a distinct shape which I will draw but I have no scanner. I was out doing a very late power walk and it took me by surprise as to its brightness and the size of meteor when it glowed and its shape visible

Just seen meteorite over Streetly, Sutton Coldfield, Uk.
Time just after 3am I think . I was in my garden and just saw a ball of light with a tail on it. It was white but I briefly saw the colour  Green and I think violet. It appeared to be very low Down . It a clear night and I had just been looking  Up at the stars. When I looked to go back inside I  Just saw it come out of nowhere and there was no  Noise. It went Behind 2 doors down house. I was  Afraid as I have not seen anything like this before. I  Saw for about 5 seconds I think but was just amazed

(around 3am) On a night shift in a hotel in Northampton, I went out for a smoke and as soon as I light up my cigarette I saw a fast moving object with bright neon blue light flash through the sky, it was completely silent. It took me a while to work out what it was, which to my knowledge was a meteor traveling North over Northamptonshire. I felt a little frightened at first as I was unsure what I had seen, but afterwards I felt very privileged.- Larn mcginlay

07JUN2014 Tim Canary Watchung, NJ USA 10:05PM Eastern Tim 5-10 seconds just above tree line Facing EAST, it fell right to left. Heading North Bright White. No sound did not see it hit Very bright, white. Not quite sun did not see, but did see trail family was travelling East on RT 78. Three people in car saw this.

05JUN/2014 Matt Bellvue, CO 9:21pm MST 8-10? S to N, Facing East, R to L white, red hue at peak Brighter than Venus. large trail but no frags observed very flat trajectory. Tried for photo, too quick.

05JUN/2014 Ben Weeks Livermore Colorado USA 21:22 - 9:22 pm MT 3 seconds? east to west I was loking north Huge Fireball falling star, largest I have ever seen by far, maybe ten percent of the size of the full moon relative to my perspective. I am in lnorth east Colorado 30 miles from Wyoming it was north of me traveling east to west Very very bright the size and the distint fireball surrounding were nothing like I have ever seen and I am 50+. I could see the large object (bolide?) and the gren fire swirling around it!The object was actually darker the fireball bright as the moon. I have never seen the swirls of the fireball before or anything this big. No fragmentation Incredible. I will never forget it.

I think this hit near my house.. I heard a rumble and my house shook at this time and I've been Googling looking for accidents or explosions in my area but maybe this was it
I have been search the net for a blast or explosion near my house at the time. Friend also commented of bright flash near my house and I felt a vibration and my house rattled. Is it possible this meteor was the cause? Chad C.

Initial Meteor Sighting Reports-28MAY2014 Jack Scott TYNTYNDER SOUTH, VIC, AUST APPROX 2200AEST 3 seconds First observed at approx 20 DEG ELEV, 010 DEG AZIMUTH. Travelling straight down., White flash over northern hemisphere of sky caught my attention then looked up to see orange shaft proceed quickly down to horizon. No sound was noticed. Initial flash was similar to lightning when close by, followed by bright orange shaft toward horizon and glow in surrounding clouds. None observed Oberved passing through layers of distant cloud. Orange shaft appeared about half the thickness of a pencil when held at arms length.

28MAY2014 Angela Cowra, NSW, Australia approx 2200 AEST Only saw last 2-3 secs before impact. Facing west, came from north (right to left) but more vertical than horizontal Fireball was orange with long blue tail. Impact light was a bright dome that clearly showed the outline of the hills and vegetation in the horizon between us and the impact point. Heard no sound, but eerie silence and stillness after impact. No vibrations felt either. Brighter than a full moon. After impact, bright white/blueish light (like extreme lightning, but sky was clear). None seen No idea how far impact was from us ...

28MAY2014 claire Bendigo, Victoria 2155 4sec NNE in bendigo sky travelling vertically down slightly off to the left yellow fire ball with tail looked like a massive sparkler waving to the ground brighter than the moon yes looked like a sparkler looked as if to hit the ground and lit up the surrounding buildings and sky no vibrations or noise

I was traveling north in my car saw a bright orange fire ( fireball with a tail) in the sky at approx 25 - 35 degrees decent angle. Travelling from east to west. At approx 10 pm. Austrailia time. no fireball decending over northern victoria

28MAY2014 Stuart Moss Beveridge, Victotia, Australia 21:52, Eastern Standared Time, PM 1.5 -2.5 seconds It was to the North, It traveiled in a vertical direction straight down. It past through the clouds and appered to continue on to the ground. As it past through the clouds, the sky light up a bright fire yellow. No sound heard The Fire ball was red and yellow with a long yellow tail. It lit up the sky bright yellow as it past through the cloud. None seen. I'm guessing it was 150Km away I think it may have hit the ground.

I saw an incredible flame of light just as it disapeared behind a hill whilst driving between wellington and molong in NSW at about 955 pm it was to the west of this road and had fallen from the north. I only saw it for a very short period as it actually gave me a fright when i caught it in my perriferal vision and turned to see it whilst driving. My passenger and i thought that it was literally just over the hill from where we were. It was amazing to see. Nick
