Boulder, Colorado -Meteor/Fireball Sighting 11:35pm - October 19th, 2011
I was in my back yard when I saw it. It was like a ball of fire - from where I was standing, it looked about the size of an exercise ball. The main part of it was a bright white with an outer greenish glow with a tail trailing behind that was also a white/light pink color. I saw it for maybe about 3-4 seconds before it either burned out or dissapeared behind the houses. Start location in the sky - about 65-70 degrees from the horizon (facing south) and ended about 50-45 degrees from horizon. Direction of Movement - at an angled downward direction - like going down a slide. Brightness - it was like that of the sun, but easier to look at. It is dark already outside here, so the dark sky contrasting the white brightness made it easier to see. Sounds - none Photo's/Video's - Happened too fast but my BF saw it too! He was w/ me. On your blog, I see that this is the fourth one spotted tonight! That's amazing! Do you have any sort of graph that tracks the increase or decrease of meteorite sightings over time? That would be interesting to see. Thanks for creating a place for us to share our sighting! - Erica B. Thank you Erica!
