NEOs Asteroids Close Approach September 2012

September 2012 will be an active month for fireballs and meteors.  Many more NEOs are yet to be discovered before the month is over; so check back as this table below is likely to have additions. Get outside and observe when able on clear nights.  The best time for viewing is from 10pm-4:30am.
Enjoy the night sky, stars, moon, planets, etc. and if luck several meteors! If you have a sighting of a meteor, fireball or bolide please file a sighting report and document with others. Thank You!

30AUG2012 Lakrime Castiglion Fiorentino, AREZZO, ITALY 20:50:00 3-5 seconds Facing South, it was going West (right) No sound. Looked like a classical falling star but was much bigger, brighter and a little slower Moon Yes. At the tail end it changed to a reddish colour and I saw a handful of fragments falling off. Never seen such a thing. We were in a field talking with friends when my husband pointed to the sky. Not all of us saw it. I was literally shocked to see such a thing.

30AUG2012 Angela St Albert, Alberta, Canada 10:30 pm mountain time 5-7 seconds South South East blueish green and then ending in orange/yellow sun no parts started blueish green and then a bright yellow ball of fire. For as high as it looked in the sky it was wide. It had a long trailing yellow tail. It was amazing. I didnt know what I was looking at at first. My husband was facing the other way and missed it. I was w as facing south and it went right to left. My husband is so mad he missed it. Awesome!

29AUG2012 Elizabeth Parrish Reidsville, NC 21:55 EST 5 sec south to north blazing white, started out small, like a shooting star, then grew bigger, angled down and turned brilliant green, then broke apart in green bits at the end (trees were blocking my view slightly at the end, this is what appeared to happen) startes out like a shooting star, then increased in brightness and size, dimmed slightly when green at the very end of my view it appeared to break off into several fragments This was A-mazing. It was very bright and terribly beautiful!

29AUG2012 Megan Chapel Hill, NC Eastern time zone- 9:53 pm 8 seconds United States green no sound like a street light, very clear no It shot straight down, very long and bright bright green. At first I thought it was a helicopter but then it phased out.

29AUG2012 jak Yeppoon  Capricorn Coast Queensland  Australia 20.20pm/aest 4 seconds then went behind mountain NW i was facing west very bright green ..and an orange tail at the end as bright as a weld flash solid ..clean line amazing

29AUG2012 Michael Klazema & Lisa Eroshkin Mackay, Queensland, Australia 20:15EST 3-4 sec NE-SW White fireball with a short white tail with debris of green and orange bits falling off Very large bright star Yes On its travel a short distance from the horizon there appeared  to be a short  break in the light but reappeared instantaneously before fading out on the horizon
