Witnesses across Scotland have described seeing a "giant meteor" streaking across the sky and breaking into pieces. The BBC was first contacted by eyewitnesses in Glasgow, Scotlandwell and Durness who said they saw the light display at about 0540 GMT.
Then stargazers from Bury, Monmouth and Kidderminster emailed to say they saw a meteor at about 1715 GMT. ... (more with several sightings by readers listed.)

Reader writes about Serbia/ Macedonia Big Meteor 12NOV2010

Hello,  I’m an italian guy, more or less at that time (friday 12th November, approximately 7.50 pm) I was travelling toward Ohrid, Macedonia (Google Maps) from the Albanian border!

 I was with other 4 friends and all of us we saw something that appeared like a meteor but nobody is expert about that those things. I was driving and I looked at the sky in front of me cos I thought that there was the moon, but the light wasn’t the moon’s light but something like a firework was falling from the sky on the horizon!

We were all surprised and this morning I checked on the web and I found that information on this website.

I hope that can be useful for your research! Unfortunately it was too short to take a picture!

I’m a bit curious to know what that was exactly!

I saw a green fireball over Alexandria, VA, at about 6:30 AM EST today, 14 November, 2010. It travelled from east to west, high in the sky to the south of us as we stood next to the river in Alexandria. We could see it splitting up a bit, and it lasted about 5 seconds as it covered 30 degrees of the sky. We didn't really hear anything. I haven't seen any news of this yet, but with Reagan Int'l Airport and Boling AF Base in clear view of it, I am sure many saw it. - JOHN SCOTT (contact info)

tamara (guest): Yesterday morning early (4:15am) in Maryland, USA I saw a large fireball going horizontally from s to e in the sky. It seemed to move fairly slowly as shooting stars go, but it had a VERY visable, red tail that was clearly spiraling. It was a beautiful site to see. Of course no one else was up and outside at this hour, so I went online today to see if anyone else had seen the same thing. Looks liked they did. Do you have anymore info?? I had only ever seen one fireball before and it was green.
