This MAY be the answer for the Tokyo magnetic dust containing mica? Sakurajima volcano is approximately 900kms from Tokyo.

Sakurajima volcano (Kyushu, Japan) activity update
The volcano remains in a state of heightened activity, with many and relatively powerful vulcanian explosions. Yesterday alone, it produced at least SIX (6) explosions with ash plumes rising to 7-10,000 ft (2.1-3 km) altitude.

Sakurajima volcano (Kyushu, Japan): ash plume to 15,000 ft (4.5 km)An unusually high ash plume rising to 15,000 ft (4.5 km) was reported this morning. This suggests a significantly larger than average vulcanian explosion took place.
