Boston, Massachusetts Meteor ~9-10 pm 29APR2011
Guest696 (guest):Few hours ago (~9-10 pm April 29) saw a bright light to the south traveling very fast. Thought it was a firework until I realized how fast it was traveling and and saw it break apart as it got lower. I am about 15 miles north of Boston, and if I had to guess I'd say it fell somewhere between me and the city. Essex County, Massachusetts.

Marina Del Rey, California Two Meteors? ~7:35 pm 28APR2011

Marina Del Rey, California Two Meteors? ~7:35 pm 28APR2011
I'm not sure if this is the right place to report this, but I just spotted what I think are two meteors in the evening sky over the Marina Del Rey area near Los Angeles. The first object was seen at around 7:35, and was white in color, moving slowly downward in the sky in what looked like a 45 degree angle moving north west. A second one appeared about ten minutes later with a pinkish hue.
I'm not much of an amateur astronomer, but saw this address and your site while looking for reports of meteor showers in the area. Hope this is interesting. Please let me know if anyone else reported or confirmed a similar sighting.
Thanks, Jennifer B.

North Texas Bolide Meteor Fireball 26APR2011

North Texas Bolide (fast but bright) 26 April 2011 - 06:48:49Z
Sentinel Allsky OKC (c) James Beauchamp
Man, this is getting cool. Catching at least one good one per observable night.
The Sentinel software doesn't catch things near the horizon due to the mask settings, but the radar is a good backup.
A loud radar target usually means something hit the fence.
So, barring sentinel triggered events, I go through the radar plots, and then hit the sentinel archive screenshots.
If I can find a good audio recording program, hope to have audio to dub on the video.
This was a fast, bright one South of the Oklahoma Border.  - James Beauchamp

24APR2011 South Australia Desert Meteor ~6:20 pm (c) Chris Handler

South Australia Desert Meteor ~6:20 pm 24APR2011

This bolide appeared over the South Australian desert last night When I first noticed it, it was about as bright as the international space station (mag -4), but moving much quicker. It suddenly flared up very brightly, then started to fragment. There where about a dozen fragments in total, all of them trailing very smokey tales. By this point it was bright enough to throw shadows, and maybe just of the brightness of the full moon. All the fragments soon faded, and a trail lasted in the sky for about ten seconds. The bolide itself lasted about seven seconds. We waited for a sonic boom, but there wasn't any. Here's the thing though. I was just setting my camera up for some star scape shots, and managed to turn my camera around quick enough to catch most of it. I missed the first 3-4 seconds because I have a 2 second timer on to steady the shot, but caught the majority of it. Unfortunately I was using a high ISO so it's a bit noisy, but I'm still stoked. It wasn't a Lyrid either because it traveled from roughly NE to W. This happened around 6:20pm Australian central standard time. I was about 10km south of a small town called Parachilna and my coordinates where -31.218,138.404 In the photo, north is about a 1/3 from the left hand side.
Cheers, Chris Handler

Leiden, The Netherlands Three Fireballs (Lanterns NOT Meteors) 22:40 23APR2011

Leiden, The Netherlands (Holland) Three Fireballs 22:40 23APR2011
We saw three big red-ish fireballs falling from the sky. They were quite low in the atmosphere and they seemed to be pretty close. They were travelling from West to East(?)We live in Leiden, the Netherlands and we witnessed the event at around 22.40 local time, 23 of april 2011.

Hi Dirk, hi observers,
These were *NOT* fireballs. I witnessed two of them myself (from Leiden, same date, same time: direction of movement from northeast to southwest however, consistent with teh prevailing wind at that time). They were so-called "Thai hot-air balloons", miniature hot-air balloons that are currently very popular for garden parties etc. They consist of a bag and a burner. As soon as the weather gets comfortable, we get loads of reports on these. -Dr Marco Langbroek

San Antonio, TX at 10:22pm
Sirs, on 22 April 2011 I was leaving a play with my wife and on the way to the parking lot I spotted a green meteor traveling southeast to northwest over San Antonio, TX at 10:22pm. This object left a trail from horizon to horizon. There was no detectable sonic boom but the trail was about four times wider than a "normal" large meteor streak. I hope this helps you, thanks. -Thunder Hawk

California Bright Flash a Meteor? 21APR2011

Hemet, California  9:56 pm 21APR2011
I Saw a huge blue explosion in the sky tonight! 9:56pm, April 21, 2011 Hemet Ca. Explosion lit up the entire horizon and half the sky. Did not hear any sound. It was in the Western Sky from me -Carrie

Double Green Flash in Los Angeles, California
I also saw a similar double green flash-- on the night of april 1st, thought. I was driving south on beverly glen toward westwood village and a good part of the sky just above the horizon flashed vivid green twice before going out. Both my girlfriend and I saw it, remains one of the more bizarre things Ive seen. From the other user's description it sounds like the same event in the same place, though he may have recalled the date incorrectly. I remember it was the first because we were driving home from a birthday party that day. Perhaps the same event recurred twice? Not likely.
Thanks,
Jon H.

It appeared to be decending down in the East/Southeast at about 20-30 degrees off the vertical. First noticed it at about 2 hand widths above the hozizon and I reckoned it flared to about a small fingernail at arms length... whole process about 2-3 seconds. Like I said biggest and brightest I've ever seen. -Simms
