Wayne County, Michigan Meteor 21NOV2011
Wayne County, Michigan Meteor between 715-730pm 21NOV2011
Driving West on Interstate Highway 94. Saw a bright object (brighter and larger than Venus) moving almost directly west from about 45 degrees above horizon straight down. Lasted a out a second and a half. Bright enough to see through windscreen with lots of lights of civilization around. Fifteen minutes later saw another similar object moving in a similar direction as I was approaching Ann Arbor.... -Steve W.

Upton, MA Meteor 21NOV2011
Upton, MA Meteor ~11:28 pm EST 21NOV2011
On 11/21/11 approximately 11:28 pm I saw a low meteor. It was
going east to west with a 1/4 moon magnitude (very bright) green and
yellow. I think this is copper and sodium so perhaps it was satellite
or booster rocket debris burning up on reentry. It lasted 2 to 2.5
seconds and I wish I had my camera or cell phone. It was very wide so
I think it was low and no sound. I am in Upton, MA 42.17 N -71.61 W. Regards,
Dennis Kloepping Thank you Dennis!

Las Vegas, Nevada Green Meteor 21NOV2011
Las Vegas, NV. Green Luminous Meteor 3-4 second Duration between 7:15-7:20 pm 21NOV2011
It's now 7:32pm PST in Las Vegas, NV. I was out back on my patio, facing east when I saw a pale green luminous ball shoot across the sky, west to east. It was larger than all bodies visible in the night sky, except the moon. My best estimation would be approximately 1/10 size of a full moon, perhaps slightly larger. I was visible for about 3 or 4 seconds before it vanished in the eastern horizon. There was little or no visible "tail" which seemed immediately odd to me. There was no flashing, twinkling or other fluctuation in it's luminosity or intensity. This likely happened between 7:15 & 7:20pm. Well wishes,~Kim C. Harper Thank you Kim!

Devon, UK Meteor? 7/8 pm 21NOV2011
Monday 21st November 2011. 7/8pm Devon UK
I saw what i thought was a shooting star only it was as big as the North Star and a tiny bit slower than a shooting star? It was around 7/8pm in Devon UK. I thought nothing of it but then on the next night 22nd November 2011 at approx 6:45 I was driving to Plymouth Devon and I saw the same kind of thing. It was a clear night with no lights around so it was very easy to see! It looked like the North Star shooting down towards the earth. I have seen lots of shooting stars before these were just larger and slower and didn't seem to have the kind of tail. Not sure if that's the right word?? Most def not planes!! Wish someone else saw the same as me! Mia Devon UK

Canungra, Queensland, Australia Meteor 7:35 pm 20NOV2011
We saw a huge meteor in the sky tonight at 7.35pm. We had just left Canungra (a town inland from the Gold Coast) and saw it in the sky towards the west - it was travelling north. It was VERY large and close - it continued for about 5-10 seconds. At first we thought it was a plane on fire but it burnt up in the sky so must have been a meteor. It was a bright white light with 2 seperate white heads merging into a single tail which was more orange. Cheers - Donna Thank you Donna!
Ripley, Ipswich, Queensland 7:50 pm 20NOV2011
My name is John and I live in Ripley, Ipswich, Queensland. I just happened to be looking towards the South West when I saw a slow moving Metorite heading North East. As it passed though the trees I had an awesome view of it and would of been at around 2-4,000ft above the ground.
It had a blue and green glow to it and because it was so close to me you could see the could see red and orange sparks in the tail. When glow went away you could still see red and orange sparks come from it. To cage how close it was to me I live about 12klms (approx) from Amberly Airforce Base which is West North West of my poistion and it looked as if it flew over the top of it and out the point of burn out, it still sparked Red and Orange at what looked like 1,500ft. Awesome sight to see. regards, John Stewart Thank you John!

Scarborough, QLD, Australia Almost 8.PM Sunday 20 November 2011
Looking towards the glasshouse mountains from Scarborough, a slow moving large ball of light we thought (and now believe) to be a meteor with a long tail. It travelled for about 8 seconds then seemed to fracture into sparks that dissolved. It was so intense and bright, never seen anything quite like it before. The whole family saw and we were captivated. -Shirley H Thank you Shirley!
Ipswich, Qld Australia. about 8pm local time
Not sure this was a meteor, as I've only ever seen a few small ones high in the sky. We were facing west and saw a very bright large light moving from about west to NW, took about 5 or 6 seconds getting smaller as it went. about 45 degrees above horizon. small tail. I'd like to know if anyone else observed it and to find out if it was a meteorite or space junk. Thanks! -Graham Willis Thank you Graham! From everyone`s description I would say that it WAS a meteor and NOT space trash. Space trash generally enters at a much slower speed.

Spring Grove, NSW, Australia Meteor 8:55pm AEDT on 20/11/2011
I saw a very large meteor in the west sky at approximately 8:55pm AEDT on 20/11/2011
I viewed the meteor from outside my house at Spring Grove NSW (near Casino on the NSW North Coast) After hearing a series of strange loud thunder like rumbles which I assumed was an distant storm, I went outside to discover a brilliantly clear night sky. As i stood there looking at the sky I heard the last of a series of loud deep thunder booms. (sounded kind of like a shotgun/s being fired in our little valley.) I instantly presumed fireworks but the noises had stopped now so I started scanning the sky for smoke or signs of fire works. Whilst rifle fire is not unusual to hear around the local country, I immediately ruled out gunfire as the cause of the noises.
As i mentioned earlier I live is a small valley so I may just not have been able to see the fireworks (if that is what made the noise). After about a minute of scanning the sky I saw the meteor enter the sky to the West. It was small to begin with then grew larger and brighter as it moved across the sky. It moved reasonably fast in a northerly direction and I watched it for approximately 5 or 6 seconds untill it disappeared behind the hills in the NW sky. I didn't see it burn out. For the first second in the sky it just looked like a normal shooting star, but instead of burning out it exploded into a extremely bright yellow/white burning colour. It had a brilliant sun like brightness and it got brighter and larger as it traveled across the sky and had a very large halo around it by the time it disappeared out of sight. It was by far the largest and brightest meteor I have ever seen, at the time it disappeared behind the hill it's halo was almost the size of a coke bottle top held at arms length. cheers, Liz Clark Thank you Liz!

Large fireball (with tail) moving slowly across the western sky (from SSW to NNE) – almost looked like a plane on fire but bigger - say it for about 20 seconds – incredible & once in a lifetime view for me. Looking up, Gayle Thank you Gayle!
Australia News Report:
Southeast Queensland dazzled by large fiery object in the sky
Couriermail.com.au I viewed the meteor from outside my house at Spring Grove NSW (near Casino on the NSW North Coast) After hearing a series of strange loud thunder like rumbles which I assumed was an distant storm, I went outside to discover a brilliantly clear night sky.

Johannesburg, South Africa Meteor ~8:00 pm 16NOV2011
At about 8pm on 16NOV2011 in Johannesburg, South Africa, saw an incredible Bright white - almost yellowish I would say... Just very very bright.meteor? shooting star? something... very bright light, in what may have been the eastern part of the sky. Have seen many shooting stars but nothing so spectacular - and in the middle of a city, with loads of ambient light. What was this?? We thought maybe a satellite burning up on re-entry? Or perhaps a bit of the Leonid meteor shower that arrived 'early'?! Thoughts and info would be really appreciated! Best wishes, Jane Thank you Jane!

I saw a fireball in the western sky in Southwest Michigan last night just before 6 pm eastern time. I was driving West on I-94 near mile marker 92 between Battle Creek and Kalamazoo. The ball was quite bright and red like a flare and it faded fast. It looked like it was traveling down, but maybe West as well.-Marcie Thank you Marcie!
Schoolcraft, Michigan approx. 6pm EST 16Nov2011
I think I saw the fireball reported by Becky in Saint Joseph. My wife and I were sitting outside having a glass of wine (in the cold), and I saw a green fireball. It was to my west, and rather than travel across the sky from my perspective, it seemed to travel straight down. It must have been a bright one because the sky was still in sunset. It only lasted long enough for me to say “look, look, look” as fast as I could. -Craig Thank you Craig!
Dorchester, IA Green Meteor 5:05 pm CST 16NOV2011
My Down's Syndrome son and I were taking our daily evening walk at 5:00 pm. It was twilight so the sky was not dark but I could see one bright star looking East. I turned to check on my son and when I turned back I saw a bright sparkily green ball with a long multicolored tail that tappered to a point. It quickly disappeared at a 45 degree angle behind the trees on the bluff. It seemed very low and close. It was the size of a full moon. It lasted about 1-2 seconds. I thought "Did I just see that?" It's the first thing like this I have ever seen in my 64 yrs. I'm very happy I had this privalage. It was beautiful!!!! Wish I could have looked at it longer. -Carol P. Thank you Carol!
