NEOs Asteroids Close Approaches January 2015
ALERT- Several MORE Large Meteors PENDING!

  There are currently 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 known NEO Asteroids discovered that will pass within approximately 10LD or less, LD stands for "Lunar Distance", in the month of January; expect that 10 or more NEOs will be discovered before month end. Be ready for some bolide, fireball, and meteor activity!

 Unfortunately we will be Moonblind for ground-based detection from 02DEC2014 until about the 11JAN2015  and from 28JAN-12FEB2015 so I expect several asteroids that will go undetected.

 There are four small mountan-sized asteroids that will safely pass this month.

19JAN2015 frank Peabody,MA USA 22:34:00 approx. 5 seconds glowing bright light appeared in lower sky then turn sharp right and pivoted down to the right like it was on a lever bright greenish/blue i saw a bright glowing plasma like light develop into a very large ball in the lower atmosphere, it suddenly appeared then developed into a large greenish blue ball and then took an immediate sharp turn down to the bottom right of the sky i believe it was in the south east area of the sky. it was as bright as the moon but slightly brighter no it was extremely precise sorry no photos or artwork, but shortly after noticing this event in the sky, there was a similar color light glowing onto my house and i could not locate where the light was coming from, the light was the same color as the item i saw in the sky

Aqui vão algumas imagens do meteorito condrítico de Porangaba, SP, cuja queda aconteceu na sexta-feira 9 de janeiro às 15:35 hs aproximadamente, testemunhada por Julio Carvalho da Silva e seu filho Eduardo, caseiros do sítio Alhambra, do cineasta Paulo Gama. Eles contam que escutaram um estampido prolongado e um som vibratório no céu antes de uma série de quedas retumbantes, uma delas presenciada por Julio Carvalho da Silva a escassos metros de distância. Logo após, se dirigiu ao local e achou uma pequena cratera de impacto (buraco na terra de uns 10 cm de diâmetro por 25 cm de profundidade, mas não teve coragem de pôr a mão. Seu filho Edu foi chamar Paulo Gama, que também tinha escutado o som, e este, com muito cuidado para verificar se a pedra não estava quente, foi o primeiro a tocá-la.
Visitamos o local no sábado 17 de janeiro e lá estava Maria Elizabeth Zucolotto, astrônoma especialista em meteorítica que já tinha examinado a pedra. Esta apresenta uma característica crosta de fusão preta e em dois pontos tinha sido fraturada sendo possível ver a simples vista diversos côndrulos metálicos.

Meteor-like object lights up sky over Russian Far East

  The sky in Russia's Far East was lit up by a strange object on Sunday morning, 18JAN2015.. It flew over the city of Blagoveschensk leaving behind a long trail of white light, which reportedly hung in the sky for the next two hours. But the journey was short-lived. After a few seconds the object exploded in a bright flash. Locals claim they witnessed a meteorite, but so far there has been no official information about the celestial phenomena.

I believe this to have been the re-entry of the second stage of the Falcon 9 rocket that launched the Dragon CRS-5 spacecraft.

Update-
It appears that the re-entry of 15001D / 40373 was seen from Russia's far east Amur Region on Jan 17 21:48 UTC (Jan 18
near 06:48 local time).

The first USSTRATCOM TIP message was issued a couple of hours before re-entry. The second and probably final one was issued a couple of hours after re-entry. It reported the time of decay as 2015 Jan 17 21:46 UTC +/- 7 min., and the location as 52 deg N, 121 deg E.

USSTRATCOM identifies 15001D / 40373 as debris of  Dragon CRS-5; however, I believe it was the Falcon 9 second stage. The Dragon spacecraft jettisons two solar array covers upon reaching orbit, which typically decay within 2 or 3 days of launch. The Falcon stage typically re-enters about a week later. The respective decay dates of objects 15001B / 40371 and 15001C / 40372 were 2015 Jan 13 and Jan 12, consistent with the solar array covers, but USSTRATCOM identified B as the Falcon 9 second stage. The identities of 15001B / 40371 and 15001D / 40373 should be swapped.

I have seen reports of sightings from the following locations:
Blagoveshchensk 50.28 N, 127.54 E
Belogorsk 50.92 N, 128.47 E
Khabarovsk Krai 48.50 N, 135.07 E 45 s duration
