Carmichael, California Meteor 19OCT2011

Carmichael, California Meteor  9:14 PM Pacific Time 19OCT2011
In Carmichael, California Just spotted a meteor from east going west at high speeds, going faster than any airplane I have ever seen. Lighting was bright and secluded to one area, no sparks, just a really fast looking star. In my vision for less than 5 seconds before ducking into housing. - Shannon  Thank you Shannon!

Collaroy, Australia Fireball Meteor 16OCT2011

Collaroy, Australia Fireball Meteor ~7:40 pm AEST 16OCT2011

At approx. 7:40pm (AEST) on Sydney's Northern Beaches (Collaroy), Australia, I stepped outside just in time to see a speck of light shoot across the sky for about 2-3 seconds. During this time the speck turned much brighter and larger and took on shades of red, orange and yellow. It looked like it turned into a fireball. I've never seen anything like it before. I've only ever seen just a streak of light. It's direction was roughly SE or SSE. Was it something breaking up in the atmosphere? Hopefully someone with more experience saw the same object. Regards, Ben R.  Thank you Ben!
