My name is Dana. I saw something in the sky this morning and was curious to know what it was. I was traveling southbound on a highway about five miles south of Prosser, NE. I saw a bright white object with a tail behind it for about three seconds. The object was in my south southeast sky going down in about a 75-80 degree angle east to west. The time was about 8:00 a.m.

I was traveling south on Hwy. 50 just west of Tecumseh, NE on Monday, May 23rd at about 8:05 AM. I saw the very same thing others have described. It was very bright, somewhat colorful....almost reflective like the sun bouncing off a very shiny surface. It was strikingly brilliant considering it was daytime. It had a tail that was quite long and seemed to remain in view for about 2-3 seconds. I saw it in the SW sky and it was traveling almost parallel to the horizon. It was bright enough that I first thought it to be a falling airplane or the space shuttle. First time I have ever seen one during the day like this.

A friend and I saw this meteor also!! It was about 8 am. In the sky south of West Point, Nebraska. When I first seen it, it was sparkling white light! I said "What the hell IS that!!" My friend seen it too, and it seemed to catch fire. It looked like it was coming straight down to the ground. It was the first time I'd ever seen a meteor in the daytime.

I live in The Pas, Manitoba, Canada. Last night, i was up late, and decided to have one last smoke. I was outside, and saw this flash of light in the air, there was no noise, right after the flash I saw a green glow and it turned into what i thought was fire just flying across the sky to the north, then it went dark. Were there any other reports of it? I was pretty freaked out because of the end of the world prediction and the neighbors dog was going crazy. Anyway, I thought it was interesting and I thought I'd share.

It was between 2:15 and 2:40AM CST, on May 22, 2011 I am not sure of the correct time, I came back inside and started calling people. lol. - Sandy N.

I saw a bright meteor-like object in the sky about 2:30(GMT+2) AM.
I didn't notice if it had a tail, because I got paralyzed for a second, but I remember it was glowing bright and it lit up the sky for a second.

Just seen INCREDIBLE BIG meteorite at 2:30 AM EEST, May 22 2011 (23:30 UTC/GMT, May 21), I was walking by Valmieras street (Riga, Latvia) from center. Very fast, looked like it is flying very close to the surface and going to hit the Plavnieki soon, but also absolute silent, so must be still far away. Usually they are comparable with size of stars in the sky, but this one looked more like Moon size. I'm shocked.

I'm in Columbus, OH. I noticed what I thought was the moon being obstructed by cloud cover.As I watched, I noticed it change shape. I realized there was zero cloud cover and this object had a glowing "tail". It actually seemed like the path it was traveling was glowing. It was LARGE and was gone in 10-15 seconds......after I noticed it. Total observation time was about 30 seconds. Like I said, I mistook it for the moon. This was a large object. I was facing east and the object was traveling south/ southwest. Can you tell me anything about it? I witnessed something like this before but on a much grander scale 10 years ago in Dayton. I contacted numerous people and agencies to no avail. I would like to know that someone else saw it. It had a bright orange color to it.

Just before 11pm, I saw a blue meteor. White tail, blue front. Am sure it was in our atmosphere, it was close, huge! Atlanta, GA area. Today is May 20, 2011 -Anon.

Acworth, GA. Not sure what time. Estimating about 11:30. Saw what appeared to be a blue meteor with a white trail fly over my house. I have never seen anything like this before! So beautiful! And so close! Wish I could see where it landed so I could find the meteor. It didn't make any kind of noise. Are they supposed to? -carolann0101


Woodstock /Canton area of North Georgia
I saw a large brilliant green streak in the sky around 11:00 pm. Give or take a minute or two. It lasted for about 2 seconds. Woodstock Canton area of North Georgia. I"ve seen a few Meteor showers before, but have never witnessed anything as large and bright as this. It actually lit up the sky for a second or two. - John L.

Dalton, GA

Just before 11 p.m. on May 20, 2011, in Dalton, GA, I saw a beautiful meteor for about two seconds. It was mostly blue and glowed very brightly. Never seen anything quite as beautiful as this before. It made no noise. My wife had her back to the meteor and didn’t see it. I was hoping she could have seen it. Appeared to be traveling North to South, but can’t guarantee that. -Richard M.

I saw the most beautiful meteor last night. It had a bright white tail with a greenish head and streaked across the sky for about 3 seconds. I have seen many meteors but never one as spectacular as this one. -Erin W

BBQhorse: May 20,2011, around 11PM(?)in Gainsville, GA I witnessed a meteor traveling very fast from NE to SW. It caught my attention with a long white streak before exploding in a bright green flash and disappearing behind the tree line. Did anyone else see this beautiful meteor?

Ive never seen anything like what I saw last night around ten thirty. A bright light of energy growing in size as it traveled shot across the sky lasting about 5 seconds. I was so caught up in the moment I do not remember the exact color but I do remember the light getting brighter and more brilliant as it came to an end. GOD IS LIGHT. Energy. EXUM -Ezy

Northeast of Clanton, Alabama Meteor ~9:40 pm

Saw a meteor about 9:40 pm Northeast of Clanton Alabama Started out Large yellow with white tail then turned blue green with pieces breaking away. Bright large flashes lighting up the sky and it disappeared.    I suspect it may be the same one that was seen in Georgia.   We’re about 2 hours drive time to the west of Atlanta Georgia. First time reporting a meteorite sighting.  It was very impressive to see. thank you -Billy and Melissa Enterkin

Tracey Aileen Lightheart Kennedy: Hi all. I saw something that lit up the night sky,around 10:50 EST last evening, so the 16th of may. To be honest I don't know what it was. But guelph ontario canada, west direction. the event lasted for a minute, I was speaking with a friend on skype so I have the time pretty exact. ps if I find a rock like that I'm keeping it..lol

Guest925 (guest):Monday May 16 -Alberta at 7:57-ish.Did anyone else see a meteor travelling from east to west off to the north of highway 16? Being not really awake -waiting for the bus - i first thought it was a kite as it had a tail but then realised it was a meteor as it was moving and sparking - bluish Sorry - apparently, I'm still not really awake - it was at 6:57 (not 7:57)and north of Spruce Grove, Alberta Canada! It took a bit to register as it was full daylight which is why for a second, I thought it was a turquoise blue kite!Pretty though.

Guest49 (guest):From east of Christchurch New Zealand, We have sightings of asteroid/meteor early this morning 20 May,Friday around 7:20am New Zealand time. It was a good size fireball with orangey trail going in one direction to the east pacific ocean in a very high speed that lasted for over 10 minutes. I took video but it was in the last 5 minutes of it because we have trouble finding the camera to start and camera to work the video mode as I was also talking on the phone with my husband at his work,his workmate come out and seen it too. Wondering why its not in the news here in NZ though -Cherry

Jennifer Newton-Just: Thursday May 18, approx 11:30pm -12:00am @Ardrossan, Alberta. I had my eyes closed trying to fall asleep when all of a sudden an intensely bright light prompted me to open my eyes. I thought it was Edmonton's police chopper with its spotlight on but the flash of light appeared to plummet rapidly out of the night sky therefore ruling out the helicopter theory.The flash lasted for only a split second -Much to my dismay!It was in the NE sky and it appeared to be the size of a golf ball. The flash appeared to be white -- very bright. I never noticed a color. It was over way too fast. Brightest light I have ever seen!
