I was looking at Wikipedia at the write up about the Kamil Crater at 22° 1'5.89"N latitude and 26° 5'15.69"E longitude. A recent addition to the article by Enrique Díaz-Martínez, Spain at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kamil_Crater
states:

"According to evidence provided by Google Earth images, Kamil crater morphology and its prototypical rayed structure (well-preserved radiating features) have been destroyed between 2020 and 2023, most probably due to exhaustive plundering of meteorite fragments. The last image of the well preserved crater is of February 2020, whereas it is fully destroyed in the next image dated May 2023, so it was destroyed between those two dates. The size of the wheel tracks visible on trails to/from the former crater indicate that heavy machinery was used for the collection of meteoritic material."

I looked at the Google Earth images and essentially agree with what is written. Although the exact timeline is open to interpretation, the aerial images do show that this crater, which is a protected site, has been destroyed by people illegally mining it presumably for iron meteorite fragments and spherules. Heavy machinery, presumably electromagnets and other methods were used to vandalize, desecrate, and otherwise destroy this irreplaceable part of the Egypt's geological heritage for personal gain.

Undoubtedly, there are stolen Egyptian meteorites already in the marketplace for sale somewhere.

Just Discovered Asteroid 2024 RW1 to Hit Luzon Philippines abt. 16h39 UT 5SEP2024

9th Earth impactor on its way to Northern Philippines!
Freshly discovered in the first hours of September 4th by the Mt. Lemmon Survey (G96), part of Catalina Sky Survey, Asteroid 2024 RW1, CAQDTL2, is a small asteroid (around 1 m dimensions) coming from the main asteroid belt. But what’s exceptional with it, is that its orbit will soon bring it into the Earth atmosphere! For the 9th time in human history, an extraterrestrial object is discovered BEFORE it enters the Earth atmosphere. Seen the size of the impactor, the main highlights will be a major fireball and potential meteorites recoveries, but this remain a dramatic and scientifically valuable event.
From the actual calculations, which will be more and more accurate as long as we receive some new observations of the small Near Earth Object which is in space right now, it seems the entry area of the asteroid is in Northern Philippines, close to Luzon island, around 16h39 UT. Inhabitants close to this position should remain alert around that time, and try to enjoy the show. Best would even be to record it, and to send a Fireball Report Form to the IMO!

Here’s data from the Ingalls, NC meteorite fall from 1:14 AM eastern this morning. The first is a composite of all radar signatures of falling meteorites. These are all <10g in mass. The second is a strewn field map with 1kg (red) grading to 100s of g, 10s of g, and 1-10g (yellow). This is an intentionally simplified map and actual meteorite masses may be mixed up a bit. A meteorite from this event was found in Kirkwood, Eastern Cape, South Africa.  The meteorite appears to be from the HED group, likely a Howardite or Diogenite, a specimen of Asteroid 4 Vesta! -LMH...Tokyo

What to look for? Meteorite with black or dark brown Fusion Crust

Freshly fallen meteorites may smell like burnt, like sulphur or like gun powder.

Generally, they are heavier than the average Earth rock.

If you find a meteorite, document with camera photos before disturbing the scene, get the GPS location, and mark the spot.

Please if possible DO NOT TOUCH WITH BARE HANDS, this contaminates the meteorite; wrap in aluminium foil, put some dry rice in a jar and add the wrapped meteorite or fragments and seal. DO NOT USE A MAGNET, as this destroys the magnetic memory in the rock. A sample needs to be supplied ASAP for Cosmic Radiation Studies and Gas Studies. People in the local area first check the roads for smashed rocks on the blacktop or look for black burnt-looking rocks on graveled roads. Check roofs, windows for holes.
