Last night at approximately 2:27 AM CDT (2013 August 28 07:2721 UTC), all 6 NASA allsky cameras in the SouthEast picked up a very bright fireball (peak magnitude ~ -11, 2 magnitudes brighter than the Last Quarter Moon) that MAY have produced meteorites. The cameras were completely saturated, necessitating a manual solution. This may very well be the brightest event our network has observed in 5 years of operation.
Using two stations, we have derived the following crude parameters:
Start location: 84.943 W, 34.969 N at an altitude of 97.4 km
Last location: 84.578 W, 35.206 N at an altitude of 37.9 km (this is NOT the lowest point; other stations show it continuing)
Speed: 23.7 km/s
Peak brightness: -10.9
Mass: ~45 kg (roughly 0.3 to 0.4 meters in diameter)
Radiant: RA - 336 +/- 2 deg, Dec +9.8 +/- 4 deg

I am currently attending the Meteoroids conference in Poland. At the
meeting, Prof. Peter Brown has just alerted us to the fact that the Daytime
Craterids (DCR) have unexpectedly shown up in the Canadian Meteor Orbit
Radar (CMOR). You can see the radar detection for yourself at:
If the previous outbursts are anything to go by, the shower might last for
several days and increase in activity. Whether this might produce meteors
at visible wavelengths is essentially unknown, but amateur astronomers at Southern latitudes are strongly encouraged to keep an eye out for earth-grazing meteors near sunset.
I have put together this animation which shows locations on Earth where such earth-grazers *might* be visible over the next 24 hours:

We recorded this on Wednesday on a walk through the desert near the hill of La Ventana. I see that there is another video on YouTube about the same phenomenon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xeZ0xS ...). I'm no expert but I think it's a meteor and must have fallen about. Asking the locals walking around I noticed they did not want to talk about it and they said they had not seen anything but it's hard not to have seen anything. Something weird out there in the desert.

No soy experto pero creo que es un meteoro y debió de haber caído cerca. Preguntándoles a la poca gente local por ahí noté que no querían hablar del tema y me dijeron que no habían visto nada pero está difícil que no hubieran visto nada. Algo raro hay por ahí en el desert.

25AUG2013 Denise Totah Lubbock Texas 5:00 a.m. 5 maybe 10 seconds west to east right to left I was facing west i thought it was a flash of lightning. I turned to look up and saw this big flash of light and it looked like it had 2 contrails at the end. I thought that maybe a plane had exploded, but there was no sound a little brighter than the moon it looked like 2 trails coming from it after it started disappearing I didn't get a picture, I just know that the flash was bright enough to make me look up to the sky as I thought it was lightning.

When you return to the High Tatras I looked out the window car probably south and I saw strong greenish glow of the tail. In the first moment I thought it flares. Then I saw on the internet photo
bolide of observations in the similar time, so I'm almost sure I saw it too. Certainly lighted and earth, because driver thought that someone had flashed the high beam.

Circumstances observations: When returning from visit famous we roughly middle of the village, when crossing žel.přejezdu tracks Nemotice-Korycany, both suddenly spotted over southern greenish horizon
ft ^ ^ ^ ^ something that about 2/3 of the visible smoke trails visibly about 1 second brightened green flash so that it could be seen clouds in nejbližím brightening the area. As we walked in direction from west to east, we phenomenon on the right hand. We smoke trails could not miss it because Its color and length. A more precise time seconds are not able to determine I could only look for mobile phone,

Jodie Reynolds, USA PI, and Dirk Ross, Japan Researcher, have spent the past seven days, X20 hours a day, to get reports and information documented and calculated before sending teams to the field.
Maps of the projected strewnfield and overall observer data completed. An orbit has been calculated for the meteoroid/s. Maps are available for legitimate Australian Researchers upon request and verification.
