Brisbane, Queensland
On June 17th 2011, we were driving on the Bruce Highway in Brisbane between Strathpine and North Lakes at approximatelyt 9.05pm we saw a fire ball in the sky which was orange with a white tail and blackish head, at a 45 degree angle heading downwards before fading completely out, lasting roughly 5 seconds. It was very bright and apparent in the sky. Angela Peck and Levi Bye.
Brisbane, Queensland (Yeerongpilly)
Brisbane, Queensland (Yeerongpilly). Saw meteor just after 9pm on 17 June 2011. Was located in north north east lower part of sky. 5-10 seconds. Not sure when it started and it disappeared beyond the horizon. movement was 45% towards horizon.
very bright, red round part leading with white tail. moving very quickly. seemed very large and close (moon is very close at the moment too). It would have been the size of a normal moon. Amazing and beautiful... -HolidayOffer
Lismore, Australia
Saw exactly the same thing as Isaac Smith (1st post) over the skies of Lismore looking south. Mentioned it to my stepdad at the time but forgot about it until tonight.Unlike anything I have ever seen before. Pretty much looked like a massive fireball flying at pace into our lower atmosphere and didn't look that far away. No sound, have heard no further news of it until I googled it and found these posts, 45 degree angle for about 3-5 seconds. Absolutely amazing actually, but as I didn't die I just got on with my day and forgot for some reason. Way to close and too big to be a falling star or comet. This thing was either big or close and definately entered our lower atmosphere. I'm no scientist but that was my take on it. -lordwinterborne

About 5 mins ago one came through from the east heading south - low large clearly visible just on dusk - bright with long bright orange tail...Burnett Heads, Bundaberg QLD. Time 5.30
17th June 2011 approximately 9.15 pm saw a flash of light with a tail as we were driving along Old Northern Rd at Albany Creek. It looked like it was headed for the ground (earth) in the north east of the sky.It lasted for a few seconds. It was heaps bigger and brighter than any star or planet visible to us not as big as moon or sun obviously.
I saw a meteor break up over sydney NSW approx 9pm 22/6/11.
